Remember a month ago, when Žiga accidentally short-circuited the Telefunken M15 and his workstation's motherboard a day before the release?
It was hilarious and terrifying at the same time!
Well...he got the legendary 2-track stereo master recorder up and running again. He even performed a minor connectivity upgrade on it.
The Telefunken M15 was sought after in the 70s and the 80s as the go-to machine for recording mixdowns and masters.
Running at 7.5 or 15IPS, it has a unique warm signature and a very interesting, lively low end.
Driven just a bit hotter it adds subtle harmonic distortion to the signal. This can help mixes translate better to smaller devices and produce loudness without over-compression.
To make up for handling this beauty so rough in the last month, we'll also be arming it with a fresh tape in the next few days!
If you'd like to read more about our automated, digitally controllable M15 tape machine, or want to check the specs, you can do that on our website.
