We took a trip to Novo Mesto to get feedback on the first Distopik Precision Series Mastering EQ ever built.
The owner, Matej Gobec is one of the most well know Slovenian audio engineers and is very satisfied with its performance.
The Overnight Success
Matej's got over 15 years of experience in music production and live sound. His career took off when he became the FOH engineer for Fishbone almost by coincidence.
He filled in for their engineer on a show in Slovenia. His skills were superior and his attitude proved to be a great fit with the band.
They delivered an excellent performace that night and Matej was given 6 hours to pack his luggage and get on the tour bus.
He took the job and toured with them for months. He also toured with Dub Trio, Leeloojamais, Hazard and still tours with Laibach.
Pushing the limits with the Distopik Precision Series MEQ
Laibach are a Slovenian avant-garde music group associated with industrial, martial and neo-classical genres. The popular German musical group Rammstein has acknowledged influence by both the aesthetic approach and the material of Laibach.
Matej bought the Distopik Precision Series Mastering EQ to push the limits of what was possible even further at his SoundGrounded studio.
You can hear the Distopik MEQ on a lot of Laibach 2017 material like 'Vor Sonnen-Aufgang', 'Resistance is futile - Live with RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra' and 'Ein Verkündiger'.
Saving Studio RSL
Recently Matej teamed up with Matej Pečaver to revive Studio RSL and started renting out more of our gear.
Studio RSL is now the most well equipped studio in the ex-Yugoslavia region: its 3 control rooms feature the SSL 9000J from the world-famous Hit Factory, New York, Chris Rea's Soundcraft 3200 and A BUNCH of gear we built at Distopik.
What the clients and engineers at RSL are most impressed by (right after the SSL obviously) turned out to be the Distopik Precision Series Mastering EQ.

Check out Studio RSL if you find yourself on vacation in Slovenia or Croatia!
